Tree Through the Seasons: Summer Storytime

Summer Tree Storytimes
Trees transforming from green leaves to an explosion of color to bare branches and back again is one of the most concrete symbols of the change of the seasons. Celebrate the seasons and do a basic nature exploration with this series of story times. The Seasonal Tree Storytime series started with the Fall Storytime, the Winter Storytime, then Spring Storytime. You can hop in at any time. The idea is just a one season a month, celebrating the season you are in. The last in the series is Summer. Below are story time read aloud and song recommendations for a Summer Tree Storytime. By Laura Vaccaro Seeger I have this secret desire to have a lemon tree in my backyard. That’s not what this book is about, but it’s definitely what motivated me to add some lemon books to this list. This is a great book for preschoolers who are learning about colors. Find Online

Everything You Need for a Treehouse

Written by Carter Higgins Illustrations by Emily Hughes This is written with a lyrical sense of adventure, but it is the soft illustrations that I love most. A timeless story. Find Online
Tap the Magic Tree by Christie Matheson This picture books works for any of the seasons. It shows the progression through the seasons on a tree with interactive piece for kids. order online

Summer Tree Storytime Extensions

Want more? If you have time, head outside for a Spring tree exploration. I love doing this four times a year with the same tree to help kids visualize the change of the seasons in concrete, observable way.
