Nonfiction picture books have exploded in the past decade. Narrative nonfiction. Lyrical nonfiction. There is a trend towards making nonfiction topics highly accessible and readable for young kids.
The applications are wide spread. Kids can now discover new topics in an engaging way. Kids are more motivated to dive deeper into different subjects. And for the classroom teacher or homeschool parent, there are tons of excellent nonfiction picture books to share with your kids about the topics or periods you are covering.Â
We read a LOT in our homeschool. Below are just some of the nonfiction picture books about history that we shared while learning about different periods in history. Let me know in the comments if there are others you’ve loved that you think should be added to this list!
