Super Fun Dinosaur Activities for Preschoolers

We Are the Dinosaurs Activities for Toddlers and Preschoolers

Can you picture 20 preschoolers stomping around a carpet shouting “We are the Dinosaurs marching marching….ROAR!”? This is the glee with which our librarian in Mississippi ended each story time.

Imagine my delight when I found out;

  1. Laurie Berkner the singer of this song who has pop star like status in our house was turning this into a picture book AND
  2. She would be signing books in our neighborhood in Brooklyn.

My kids were so excited. They love dinosaurs. They love this song.

They stood nervously in line peeking at her, but when we got to the front Laurie immediately put them at ease. They even got a HUG before we left. She was so full of warmth and confidence and generosity…maybe she has pop star status with me a little too.Laurie Berkner book signing

Anyways, then my sweet friend Sara asked if she could share some fun ideas about dinosaurs to go with this book I jumped at the chance.

Today you guys get an awesome song and fun book by the amazing Berkner that you can now pair with some equally fun dinosaur crafts from one of the sweetest ladies I know.

Story time done.

(And I guarantee it’ll be a fun one.)

SUPER FUN DINOSAUR ACTIVITIES FOR PRESCHOOLERS

Dinosaurs capture the imagination of toddlers and preschoolers. Maybe it’s because there are so many varieties of dinosaurs. Perhaps the fact that dinosaurs don’t roam the earth means kids view them more like cartoon characters than something to be afraid of.

Or, it could be that any discussion of dinosaurs gives kids permission to ROAR!!!!!!

One of my daughter’s favorite songs is We Are the Dinosaurs by Laurie Berkner. Ever since my daughter could talk, she could ROAR, and this song has been a go-to ‘pressure valve‘ for our family ever since.

Are you cranky? ROAR!

Do you need to be silly? ROAR!

How about those wiggles? March like a dinosaur around the kitchen and ROAR!!!!!

Even though we don’t get to rub elbows with actual dinosaurs in modern times, there are still numerous ways to make dinosaurs come to life for kids.

Recently Laurie Berkner turned her popular children’s song into a beautifully illustrated book entitled, (you guessed it) We Are The Dinosaurs. The book is basically the lyrics of the popular song, but the illustrations are totally bright and fun.we are the dinosaurs

Your kids would love to read/sing along as you turn the pages of the book.
